Mission Statement
The Ida B. Wells-Barnett Museum and Cultural Center of African American History was established inspire, enlighten and enrich the lives of people everywhere by collecting, preserving, sharing and disseminating African and African American contributions towards fields of history, art and culture in the United States and throughout the world.

A variety of family heirlooms and artifacts or African American historic value comprise the museum’s collection.

Of special importance is the Ida B. Wells Room, which contains a collection of person memorabilia, awards and belongings of this courageous American figure.

Our Local Genealogy Room contains documentation of the genealogies of several Holly Springs’ African American families.

Art Gallery
In 1996, the Ida B. Wells Family Art Gallery was chartered by a small group of dedicated educators, artists, and civic leaders who sought to preserve and share the artistic contributions of African and African Americans to local, American and world culture.

In March 2002, the Gallery was renamed the Ida B. Wells-Barnett Museum and Cultural Center of African American History.

Collections by African and African American artists are highlighted and displayed in the new gallery room. Every six to eight weeks, a new artist is featured so that each visit to the gallery offers a new experience.
